PODCAST TRANSCRIPT
It is easy to allow the noise of this world to invade your home environment. The essence of a set apart sanctuary is to place the Word of God as the barometer of your living space and allow truth to influence and guide how you manage, decorate, and enjoy your home.
Practical Suggestions for Building a Truth-Based Environment
- Fill Your Home with Truth
Rather than allowing background noise to set the tone for your space, tune your heart, mind, and thoughts to the Word of God. Begin incorporating the discipline of adding audio Bible or worship music into the soundtrack of your day. It can also be helpful to consider every listening and viewing choice that enters your home through the truth of Philippians 4:8.
A few practicals — learn how to take every thought captive, incorporate Scripture into your home decor, tune out cultural noise and place healthy boundaries around digital devices.
2. Speak God’s Reality
Our homes can often become a breeding ground for negativity, frustration, and stress because we let our guard down with our words. Make sure that your words reflect God’s reality and not your own pessimism, doubt, or frustration. If what you’re saying doesn’t align with the reality of God or His Word, then it shouldn’t have a place in your home. If you find that you have developed a habit of believing or speaking lies instead of truth, look for specific promises in God’s Word and begin declaring that reality instead.
A Note for Moms: Remember that the calling you have been given as a wife or mom is a gift and privilege. Be encouraged by these promises about children:
- meant to bring strength (Ps. 127)
- they are a reward and a gift (Ps. 127)
- God gently leads nand cares for mothers of young children (Isa. 40:11)
- children are precious (Mat. 19:14)
- intends to make us into happy, joyful mothers (Ps. 113:9)
The secret to being a good wife, mother, and keeper of the home is a lot more simple than we might think. Lean on the grace of God and believe that what He has called you do, He will be faithful to equip you for.
Closing Thoughts
When you come home, it is so important to go to the right place to refuel. Instead of looking to the distractions of the culture, realize that everything you need can be found at the feet of Jesus. Even a prison cell can become a Christ-based sanctuary when He is made the guest of honor!
